About Keystride

Keystride is a free typing test and trainer. It was built to be the typing site we wanted to use: fast, honest about how it scores you, and generous with detail.

Privacy

Keystride has no accounts and no ads. The test runs entirely in your browser, and your results, settings and history are stored in your browser's local storage. What you type is never sent to a server.

If you allow it, Google Analytics counts visits and which features are used, with speed and accuracy rounded into ranges. It only loads after you choose Allow, and you can switch it off at any time under Settings → Analytics. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Because your data lives on your device, clearing your browser data will delete it. Use export to keep a backup.

Daily challenge

A new daily challenge is generated from the date at 00:00 GMT (UTC+0) every day, and everyone in the world gets the same one. No two days are ever the same. More in our disclaimer.

Offline

After your first visit, Keystride keeps working without an internet connection. You can also add it to your home screen like an app.

Content and credits

All word lists, passages and code snippets were written for Keystride. Word lists leave out words with different US and UK spellings, so nobody is marked wrong for the spelling they grew up with. Keyboard sounds are generated live in your browser. Text is set in Inter and JetBrains Mono, both released under the SIL Open Font License (licence).

Who built it

Keystride is designed and built by Nova Site, a web design studio in Pretoria, South Africa. Nova Site builds fast, custom websites and web apps for businesses. If you like how Keystride feels, see what Nova Site can build for you.
